Meditation in Pershore
Guidance and Practice
Would you like to swap your ‘monkey mind’ for an experience of spacious openness? If so, meditation may be for you. Explore the journey toward meditation, learning accessible techniques from an experienced teacher and meeting like minded people in a small group.
What is Meditation?
Meditation is a way of being that we may open up to through our practice, rather than something we can ‘do’. The movement and breath work practices of yoga prepare us for this original and fundamental yoga and, conversely, our meditation practice supports us in our physical practices. There are countless meditation practices associated with numerous yoga lineages and traditions and these can be broadly grouped into three main types:
- Calm Abiding Meditation: Settling mental activity so that we can work with the mind.
- Mind Training: Applying a framework of principles from our chosen world view to our daily life.
- Insight Meditation: An experiential ‘look’ at the nature of mind itself.

Why Meditate?
The practice of meditation can lead us towards an experience the profound benefits of:
- Calmness: A move away from mental clutter.
- Mental clarity: Learn to see things as they really are, unfiltered by past experience and beliefs.
- Emotional balance: Greater resilience and harmonious relationships as benefits ripple out to others.
- Enhanced concentration: Improve focus and attention span.
- Increased Self-Awareness: Encourages a deeper understanding of oneself and motivations.
- Wisdom: Unveiling the nature of self and reality.
- Deep inner peace: Experience contentment and connection.
- Physical Benefits: Meditation can help with hypertension, sleep and pain management.
Those new to mindfulness and meditation may discover that the journey towards these enticing goals is neither quick nor without obstacles. It is therefore essential to have an appropriate guide, and friends, on the path to meditation in order to set up a stable personal practice, should you wish to do so.
