What is Kum Nye?

Kum Nye (also known as Tibetan Yoga or Tibetan Healing Exercises) is a gentle healing system designed to relieve stress, transform negative patterns, and enhance well-being. This holistic practice integrates physical and psychological approaches, working with all aspects of human experience to leave us with an experience of deep relaxation and reintegration.

Kum Nye works with the subtle aspect of our being that lies between the mind and the body. This liminal zone plays a crucial role in our overall sense of wellbeing and during the session we will aim to rebalance and nourish it through an immersive and relaxed practice of movement and stillness. The result is an open-hearted sense of wholeness and clarity.

You can expect movement, self-massage, breath and body awareness blended in ways that cultivate a deeper connection with our embodied presence. There will be short periods of meditative stillness, usually seated (cushion or chair).

No prior experience is necessary; Kum Nye is especially useful for those interested in developing a meditation practice.

More About Kum Nye

  • Relieve Stress: Learn to relax body and mind.
  • Increase Balance: Transform negative patterns and find a healthier equilibrium.
  • Enhance Enjoyment: Open the senses and appreciate every aspect of life more fully.
  • Foster Health: Promote well-being for self and others.
  • Develop Awareness: Cultivate calmness and clarity, keys to a non-dual meditative awareness.

No prior experience is necessary to join a Kum Nye class. All ages and fitness levels are welcome. Classes aim to deepen our embodiment experience, generating physical sensations and subtle energy flows. We will use gentle practices that massage body and mind, awakening dormant energies and soothing overactive ones. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Movement: Gentle exercises to stimulate and balance the body – physical and subtle.
  • Breath based practices: Ways of breathing that enhance energy flow and relaxation.
  • Self-Massage: Targeted pressure points to release tension and stimulate the flow of energy.
  • Visualisation: Mental imagery to enhance sensory experiences, and promote healing.
  • Sensory Awareness: Deepening connection with all the senses: touch/body, hearing, vision, taste, smell.
  • Sitting: Short periods of time (5 – 10 minutes at a time) in a traditional meditation posture on a cushion, or on a chair if that is more comfortable.

The resultant healing re-integration of mind, body, and senses leads to an open-hearted sense of wholeness and clarity. By engaging in these practices, we can harmonise all aspects of ourselves, becoming more capable, sensitive, and effective in our daily life.

No experience is required and beginners can easily benefit from this deeply transformative practice. Highly recommended for stress relief and nervous system regulation. Those with physical restrictions will find that the practices can be adapted to avoid standing, lying etc so this truly is an accessible practice.

What Yogis Say

Kum Nye online taster and Meditation taster: “as part of the online classes Lucy occasionally introduces “tasters” of practices other than Hatha, including meditation and Kum Nye. It is really good to get these other perspectives of yoga and related practices, and has opened me to trying new movements.”
Isabel - Scotland
With my continuing Hatha yoga classes,I am now practicing Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga and Healing with Lucy, which has progressed me into a more inner mindful state recognising inner feelings giving way to calmness and relaxation, using simple Yoga and breathing exercises
Chris P - Evesham
I have found that Kum Nye practice with its mixture of soft light movements and quiet mediative moments leads to an amazing clarity of mind and paradoxically increased physical energy. It’s a real joy.
